Acting Governor Of DKI Will Develop Old Town Tourism: Thank God More Yogyakarta And Bali

Acting (Pj) Governor of DKI Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi said the government would develop tourism potential and the creative economy in the Kota Tua area. The old city, according to him, can compete with tourist centers in other regions throughout Indonesia.

This was revealed by Teguh after traveling around the Kota Tua area, Deputy Minister of Creative Economy/Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency Irene Umar, Deputy Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Veronica Tan, and Special Staff to the President for Creative Economy Yovie Widianto.

"As a center of Indonesian culture and history, we hope that in the future, Jakarta will be at least the same or grateful to exceed cities, such as Yogyakarta and Bali. Because, here it is also so rich in culture and history, especially since Jakarta is a miniature of Indonesia," said Teguh, Thursday, January 23.

In developing the area, the DKI Provincial Government will start to activate Kota Tua starting from the Kali Besar segment, because the regional facilities have strong characters, corridors with various points of interest, and outdoor activation that is easier to implement because they are relatively well organized.

The regional activation concept includes the activation of the Kali Besar channel, fountain attractions, building mapping, drone shows, pop up market, mini concerts, art installations, Batavia Explore board games, museum activation, and photography spots.

According to Teguh, the Old City has a great opportunity to develop tourism. Remember, many historical relics are embedded in the Old City and become the starting point for the civilization of Jakarta/

"From here, Batavia and all the elements here are developing, this has formed Jakarta to date which is transforming towards a global city. Of course, we want Kota Tua to be better organized," explained Teguh.

On the other hand, Teguh assessed that there are still challenges that need to be overcome together in the development of the Old City. Starting from order, security, the environment including waste, to traffic arrangement.

"Of course, how do we also pay attention to public awareness to participate in protecting this Old Town," he added.
