JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi admitted that residents of victims of the Kebon Blank Village fire, Kemayoran District whose houses were burned down did not want to be relocated to flats (rusun).

This was revealed by Teguh after the government offered the option of living in the flats owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. This was revealed after Teguh reviewed the handling of aid for Kemayoran fire victims.

"We offer it to the residents, let's relocate to the flats that may be prepared by the provincial government of Jakarta or so on. Most of them, or even I haven't found anyone who agrees, through RT, RW, LMK, residents' tires suggest that they want to move to their original location," said Teguh, Thursday, January 23.

Residents, according to Teguh, still want to live in their original location after the improvement of the area. However, the DKI Provincial Government cannot promise this. This is because the burned residential land is an asset belonging to the Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg).

"(The residents' facilities to return to their original residence) cannot be carried out by the provincial government, because it is not our asset. The PPK (Kemayoran Complex Management Center) is under the State Secretariat. So, together with the handling," explained Teguh.

A total of 543 semi-permanent houses on Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, RT 07/08, Kemayoran District, Central Jakarta, were destroyed by fire on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, early in the morning.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by related officers. Meanwhile, the area burned was around 4,500 square meters. Luckily there were no casualties as a result of this big fire incident. However, the loss due to the fire is estimated at more than Rp 6 billion.

Teguh emphasized that his staff had moved quickly both during the fire, as well as in providing assistance after the fire broke out. For this reason, he appreciated all parties who contributed to accelerating the handling of fires and distributing aid.

"Since the first day, various things have been prepared. And now everything is relatively ready for assistance, tents, and everything. We thank all parties who work hand in hand to provide assistance to the victims of this fire," explained Teguh.

Regarding aid, Acting Governor Teguh ensured that the primary assistance needed by refugees, such as food, tents, mattresses, and school supplies for displaced students were available. In addition, the guard posts have also been alerted to meet the needs of refugees. This was successfully done thanks to the collaboration across regional apparatus within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

"Alhamdulillah, in general, all types of assistance have fulfilled, whether it is basic necessities, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are sufficient. Services from the Population and Civil Registry Office regarding identity cards (KTP) and various other civil record data are also ready from the first day, as well as the Health Service," he concluded.
