Defense Minister Strengthens RI-Singapore Bilateral Cooperation And Relations

JAKARTA - Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to strengthen bilateral cooperation and relations between Indonesia and Singapore.

Based on information from the Head of the Defense Information Bureau of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Defense Brigadier General Frega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang, the meeting not only discussed bilateral political relations but also military cooperation between the two countries.

"Discussions are also focused on joint efforts to face increasingly complex global challenges. This confirms the commitment of the two countries in building a peaceful, safe and prosperous region," Frega said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 21.

Lawrence Wong also appreciated the meeting.

The Singaporean PM hopes that the meeting can strengthen the foundations of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Singapore that have existed for a long time.

Previously, Defense Minister Sjafrie also visited Malaysia to meet with Malaysian Defense Minister DAto' Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin to discuss plans for cooperation in the defense sector.

"During the meeting, Defense Minister Sjafrie conveyed a message from President Prabowo Subianto which emphasized the importance of collaboration and development of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia as strategic neighboring countries in Southeast Asia," said Frega.
