A 9-year-old Boy Becomes A Victim Of Obscenity In The Tanimbar Islands, The Perpetrator Has Been Arrested By The Police

The Tanimbar Islands Regency Police have arrested an alleged perpetrator of sexual abuse of minors in Saumlaki Village, South Tanimbar District, Tanimbar Islands Regency.

"We have succeeded in arresting and detaining the alleged perpetrator with the initials WY (36)," said Tanimbar Islands Police Chief AKBP Umar Wijaya in Ambon, Antara, Monday, January 20.

He said the victim KL (9) was molested by the alleged perpetrator WY (36).

It didn't take long for the PPA Unit at the Tanimbar Islands Police Criminal Investigation Unit to immediately move quickly in an effort to handle cases of sexual violence against children.

The obscenity incident occurred on Thursday, January 16, 2025 and was revealed on Friday, January 17, 2025, and the incident was immediately reported at the SPKT of the Tanimbar Islands Police.

With the report, the PPA Unit moved quickly to collect evidence and conduct examinations of witnesses.

"Until finally the alleged perpetrator WY (36) can be named a suspect through a series of investigations to case titles, and then proceed with arrests and detentions," he said.

The suspect is subject to Article 82 Paragraph (1) and paragraph (2) of Law number 17 of 2016 concerning the Determination of Perpu number 1 of 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection. Threatened with a minimum prison sentence of five years and a maximum of up to 20 years.

He added that the high crime of sexual violence against children in the Tanimbar Islands Regency should be a common concern.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP. Handry Dwi Azhari, explained that his party is currently still detaining several perpetrators of violence against children, totaling up to a dozen people.

"Which, the perpetrators are biological fathers, stepfathers, teachers and even lurah. This of course makes it sad and a common concern to find solutions to how to save the future of the nation's generation. Hopefully there will also be social sanctions for the perpetrators, so that they can create a deterrent effect and fear what they will do," said Kasat.
