Polda Metro Jaya Continue To Raise Noise Exhausts: Desperate, Get Penalized For IDR 250,000 Ticket

JAKARTA - Police Chief of Metro Jaya Inspector General Pol Fadil Imran instructed his staff to continue raids on noisy exhausts for the sake of peace and comfort of the community during the holy month of Ramadan.

"(Raids) we will continue to promote Jakarta at night, the situation is beautiful, the situation is calm. If we rest in a calm situation it will be different, if we pray without a loud exhaust sound it will also be different," said Fadil. .

Fadil said that motorcyclists who are still desperate to use a muffler that does not comply with the standard which causes noise pollution will be subject to a ticket penalty of Rp. 250 thousand.

"Those who drive, especially those using noisy exhausts, may be subject to Article 285 of the Traffic Law," he added.

The text of Article 285 paragraph 1 of the LLAJ Law is as follows:

"Every person driving a motorcycle on the road that does not meet the technical and roadworthiness requirements which includes rearview mirrors, horns, headlights, brake lights, directional lights, reflecting devices, speed gauges, exhausts, and tire flow depth as referred to. Article 106 paragraph (3) in conjunction with Article 48 paragraph (2) and paragraph (3) shall be subject to imprisonment for a maximum of 1 (one) month or a maximum fine of Rp. 250,000 (two hundred and fifty thousand rupiah).

Previously, as many as 34 two-wheeled vehicles were netted for Operation Safety Jaya 2021 which was carried out in the vicinity of Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin and Monas, Central Jakarta in the early hours of Sunday.

Fadil also said that this activity was part of Operation Safety Jaya 2021 which was also intended as a preemptive and preventive measure to prevent inter-group brawl.

Kapolda Metro Jaya also used the opportunity to socialize the policy to ban homecoming, given the COVID-19 pandemic situation which has not ended.
