2 Private Corruption Semarang City Government Detained By KPK Today, Mbak Ita When?

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained two private parties related to allegations of corruption in the Semarang City Government (Pemkot), Central Java, today.

The two are Martono who is the Chairman of the Association of Indonesian National Construction Implementers (Gapensi) of Semarang City and Rachmat Djangkar who is a private party.

"KPK detained two suspects on behalf of M as the Head of the Semarang City Gapensi and RUD who is the Director of PT Deka Sari Perkasa," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika to reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, January 17.

From field observations, Martono and Rachmat Djangkar descended from the second floor of the anti-corruption commission office at around 18.30 WIB. Both were wearing orange vests and no statement was made.

Tessa said the detention of the two suspects would be carried out for 20 days until February 5. Investigators will later make an extension as needed.

"The two suspects will be detained at the KPK detention center," he said.

Martono, continued Tessa, was detained for allegedly participating in receiving gratuities together with the Mayor of Semarang Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu alias Mbak Ita and her husband, Alwin Basri who also served as Chairman of Commission D of the Central Java Provincial DPRD.

"Meanwhile, the detention of the suspect RUD is related to allegations of corruption in the form of giving or promising something to state officials related to the procurement of tables and chairs for elementary school fabrication at the Semarang City Education Office," explained the spokesman with the investigator's background.

Currently, Mbak Ita and her husband, Alwin Basri, have not been arrested. They should have also been summoned by investigators but were not present.

Tessa said Mbak Ita asked for a postponement of the examination because there were scheduled activities. Meanwhile, Alwin was not present on the grounds of preparing a pretrial lawsuit.

Previously reported, the KPK has started investigations into three alleged corruption crimes within the Semarang City Government. The details are the procurement of goods and services at the Semarang City Government in 2023-2024, the alleged extortion of civil servants related to incentives for collecting taxes and levies in the Semarang City area as well as the alleged receipt of gratuities in 2023-2024.

KPK investigators have also conducted searches in various locations, including in the cities of Semarang, Kudus, and Salatiga. From this forced effort, documents and cash worth Rp1 billion were found; 9,650 euros; as well as dozens of watch units suspected of being linked to this case.
