DENPASAR - Minister of Forestry (Menhut) Raja Juli Antoni targets planting mangrove seeds to cover an area of 1,500 hectares in a year.

"This year (target) 1,500 hectares throughout Indonesia," he said after planting mangrove seeds at Mangroveetum Park, Denpasar, Bali, Thursday, January 16.

This year the Ministry of Forestry focuses on four provinces, namely North Kalimantan, Riau, North Sumatra, and Riau Islands, where the four regions have large mangroves but their growth is still rare and moderate.

The Minister of Forestry said that this mangrove, apart from overcoming abrasion, increasing biodiversity, and absorbing carbon, also has economic opportunities.

"Of course tourism will cause good economic stimulation for local communities, because forests, especially mangroves, should not be seen remotely, that beautiful green but instead beneficial for local communities," he said.

Raja Juli believes mangrove tourism will not damage its ecosystem, because local people who protect from the start manage directly and benefit from the economy from there.

"If the local community is not given income from the forest, their business will definitely return from planting to cutting down, I think we will find the logic between ecotourism and protecting the environment," said the Minister of Transportation.

Di Bali sendiri Ketua Forum Peduli Mangrove Bali (FPMB) Nyoman Sweet Juniarini mengatakan sedang disiapkan lahan mangrove untuk wisata edukasi.

At Mangroveetum Park, the Minister of Forestry and Forestry of the King of July himself prepared a land with a total plan of 30 hectares, some of which have been planted with 12 types of mangrove plants.

"It's not open yet, but we are educating our first types of introduction to children and students, their environmental services, conducting tracking, and canoe tourism," he said.

It is believed that mangrove tourism in Bali itself has a great opportunity, especially in Denpasar City because not many mangrove areas have been used as tours.

"Very optimistic because for Denpasar and Badung, only the forest area has taura, so it can be optimized where the people are involved," said Nyoman Sweet.
