The East Aceh Police, Aceh, said that three cows in East Aceh Regency were eaten by a Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae).
East Aceh Police Chief AKBP Nova Suryandaru said the livestock of the community was eaten by protected animals in three different locations in the last two weeks.
"The location of the cows was eaten by tigers, namely in Blang Nisam Village, Indra Makmur District, Thursday (16/1). Then, in Sahraja Village, Pante Bidari District, Monday (13/1), and in Alue Ie Itam Village, Indra Makmur District, Wednesday (1/1)," Nova said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 16.
The cows were eaten by tigers in Blang Nisam Village, owned by Zakaria (53). Meanwhile, the cattle in Sahraja Village belonged to Taher Manik (61). And the cows in Alue Ie Itam Village, owned by Soddri.
The police chief said the animal was eaten by tigers based on searches around the location where the carcasses of the cows were found, many tigers.
It is suspected that the three cows were injured and eventually died as a result of being attacked by a tiger.
"We urge the public to remain vigilant and immediately report if there are signs of tigers around the residence so as not to endanger protected animals or the community," said Nova Suryandaru.
