Former Chairperson Of The Surabaya District Court Got Promotion, MA: Before There Was An Incident

JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Surabaya District Court, Rudi Suparmono, is known to have received a number of promotions. Related to this, the Supreme Court (MA) stated that before Rudi Suparmono stumbled upon the alleged bribery case and the gratification of Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal.

"Then, he (Rudi Suparmono) was promoted before there was an incident," said the spokesman for the Supreme Court, Yanto, to reporters, Wednesday, January 15.

In fact, when Rudi Suparmono's name appeared and was linked to the case, the leadership of the Supreme Court forbade the inauguration.

Rudi Suparmono is known to have received promotion as Head of the Central Jakarta District Court. Then, the high judge at the South Sumatra High Court.

"As soon as there was an incident, then the Supreme Court leadership forbade it to inaugurate. So it has not been inaugurated, then the results of the meeting," he said.

"When there is an incident in Surabaya, the leadership forbids not to be inaugurated. And has not been appointed as a high judge, so it has not become a promotion," Yanto continued.

He also explained that the promotion of positions in the rights profession was not necessarily appointed by the leadership. Instead, you have to undergo a series of tests and profiling.

"If the leadership election mechanism is called for a fit and proper. Then use psychological tests, the psychological tests are also from outside, not from us, profiling is also not from the Supreme Court, but from outside, like that," he said.

Furthermore, the leaders will hold a meeting to consider whether the judge deserves promotion or not.

"Then after that there will be a leadership meeting. That is what the Chairman, Deputy Chair, Director General, and Head of Bawas participated in. Like that," said Yanto.

Rudi Suparmono has been officially named a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratification case of Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal. The former chairman of the Surabaya District Court allegedly received 43,000 Singapore dollars.

With the determination of the suspect, Rudi Suparmono will be temporarily detained at the Salemba detention center at the South Jakarta State Prosecutor's Office for the next 20 days.

In this case, Rudi Suparmono is suspected of violating Article 12 c in conjunction with Article 12 B in conjunction with Article 6 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 12 a in conjunction with Article 12 b in conjunction with Article 5 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 11 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption as amended by Shrimp number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
