Dasco Clarifies The Incident Of The RI Official Car Patwal 36 Raffi Ahmad Which Went Viral

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, revealed that he had asked for clarification and asked directly the Presidential Special envoy for Youth and Art Workers, Raffi Ahmad, regarding the viral incident related to patrols and escorts (patwal) of the Indonesian official car 36 which was escorted by the police.

Dasco explained that the RI 36 official car that was escorted was actually empty and only brought Raffi Ahmad's file which would be used to attend the next meeting.

"So, first I asked, that the vehicle was used to pick up Raffi in an activity elsewhere, because in that one activity he went with his colleague. So there were only files in the car," said Dasco after receiving a visit from Raffi Ahmad at the parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, January 13.

In addition, Dasco also revealed that the DPR's technical commission had examined the incident by contacting the Korlantas Polri. Apparently, said Dasco, the escort occurred because of an argument between the taxi driver and the truck driver which caused traffic jams.

"It turned out that when the motorcade wanted to pass through another vehicle, there was an argument between the taxi driver and the truck driver. The patwal police then reprimanded and intervened so that there would be no commotion and traffic jams," explained Dasco.

Regarding the question of whether escorts are needed even though the official car does not carry passengers, Dasco explained that the escort is still in the interest of the official owner of the official car.

"It's in the event of picking up the person concerned in another activity to go elsewhere, right," he added.

In the brief meeting which lasted about 15 minutes, Dasco revealed that he did not give a warning to Raffi Ahmad, because this was not his authority.
