Hasto Kristiyanto's Substitute Depends On Megawati And PDIP's Interests

JAKARTA Professor of Unpad Political Science, Muradi, believes that Hasto Kristiyanto's replacement in the secretary general position will depend on Megawati Soekarnoputri and PDI Perjuangan's interests and needs in the future.

As is known, the seat of the PDIP Secretary General is expected to be vacant soon after Kristiyanto was named a suspect by the KPK.

A number of names such as Utut Adianto, Andi Wijajanto to Ahmad Basarah are predicted to replace Hasto.

All names have opportunities. It's just a matter of how Megawati and PDIP see what the Hasto case is. The party threat or a consolidation event. It determines who is the most appropriate figure," said Muradi, Sunday, January 12, 2025.

According to him, if PDIP's interest is to strengthen internally, then the figure of Utut can be an option.

This is because Utut can become a bridge for Prananda Prabowo's camp and Puan Maharani's camp, who are widely said to be fighting for the throne as Megawati Soekarnoputri's successor.

But if it is his interest to fight threats from outside who want to take over PDIP, then Andi Widjajanto is considered the most appropriate.

"Because his network (Andi) is in the police, TNI and strong intelligence. For Basarah, I see, for the sake of regeneration. For example, regeneration, yes, Basarah because Basarah is much younger than Hasto," added Muradi.

In addition, the PDIP method in responding to the Hasto case also determines whether the replacement is only temporary or permanent.

If this case is indeed seen as an attempt to criminalize Hasto, then Megawati seems to be appointing the acting secretary general. It could be Utut who is finished. However, if this is a series to take PDIP, then it takes people who have the typical against it, the candidates can be Andi Wijajanto, Hugo Andreas Pereira, or Komarudin Watubun," concluded Muradi.
