Millennial Minang Urges The Police To Reveal The Corruption Case For The Hand Sanitizer Fund For COVID-19

The Minang Millennial Movement held a demonstration demanding the West Sumatra Police reveal the alleged misappropriation of COVID-19 funds in the 2020 APBD.

PADANG - Dozens of students who are members of the Minang Millennial Movement held a demonstration demanding the West Sumatra Regional Police reveal the alleged misappropriation of COVID-19 funds in the 2020 APBD.

Spokesman for the Minang Millennial Movement, Fikri Haldi, said that it had been two months since this case had surfaced, but there had been no concrete steps from law enforcement.

"We ask the West Sumatra Regional Police to immediately determine a suspect in this case, and the Governor to dismiss the parties involved," he said as quoted by Antara, Friday, April 16.

Twice, Millennial Minang has held demonstrations. The demands are the same as asking the West Sumatra Regional Police to thoroughly investigate the case of misappropriation of COVID-19 funds.

"Are our law enforcers barren," he continued.

The protesters asked the West Sumatra Police Chief to prioritize this case, because it had been two months that there had been no progress.

"If there are still no signs, then we will hold another demonstration involving other student organizations," he said.

Previously, the BPK found indications of expensive prices on the purchase of hand sanitizers related to the handling of COVID-19 in West Sumatra of IDR 4.9 billion.

The findings were then followed up by the West Sumatra DPRD by forming a special committee.

In addition, a number of community organizations and student representatives also encouraged the case to be resolved completely.

Head of Public Relations of the West Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Stefanus Satake Bayu Setianto, confirmed that the investigation was carried out to the Kalaksa and the BPBD Treasurer of West Sumatra as witnesses regarding the alleged misappropriation of COVID-19 funds.
