BMKG: Beware Of Thunderstorms In Most Province Capitals

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) asked the public to be aware of the weather for thunderstorms that occurred in most areas of the provincial capital on Sunday.

BMKG forecaster Bagas Briliano on the Youtube channel which was followed in Jakarta said, starting from the Sumatra area, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in Banda Aceh City, light rain in Tanjung Pinang, and the potential for rain is occurring in the Medan area.

"Be aware of thunderstorms in Pekanbaru and Padang areas," he said.

Still in the Sumatra region, light rain is predicted to occur in Bengkulu and Palembang, while people in Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, and Lampung cities are asked to be aware of thunderstorms. Turning to Java Island, light rain is forecasted in Serang, Jakarta and Bandung areas, while the potential for rain with moderate intensity is predicted to occur in Semarang and Surabaya.

"Be aware of thunderstorms in the DI Yogyakarta area," he said.

Furthermore, shifting to the islands of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, moderate rain is forecast in Mataram City, while Denpasar and Kupang have the potential for thunderstorms.

Moving to Kalimantan Island, it is necessary to watch out for thunderstorms that can occur in almost all areas, including Tanjung Selor, Pontianak, Samarinda, Palangkaraya, and Banjarmasin.

"Then for the Sulawesi region, the weather is forecasted to be thick cloudy in the city of Gorontalo, while Palu, Manado, and Kendari are forecasted for light rain," he said.

Meanwhile, Makassar City is forecasted for moderate rain, and Mamuju City has the potential for thunderstorms.

Furthermore, in eastern Indonesia, the weather is predicted to be thick cloudy in Manokwari City, while light rain has the potential to occur in Ambon, Ternate, Sorong, Nabire, Jayapura, Jayawijaya, and Merauke.

Bagas also reminded the public to be aware of tidal flooding on the coasts of the Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung Islands, Banten, Central Java, South Kalimantan, and North Maluku.
