Humbahas Police Arrest Employees Embezzle Cooperative Money Rp1.3 Billion

MEDAN - Police Resort (Polres) Humbang Hasundutan (Humbahas) arrested a male employee with the initials DH (51) who was suspected of embezzling RP CU cooperative customers of Rp1.3 billion.

"The suspect DH is an employee who works as a cashier at CU RP, allegedly using his position to make fake records," said Humbahas Police Chief AKBP Hary Ardianto as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 10.

Hary said this case stems from a number of reports received by the police, including LP/B/76/X/2023, dated October 20, 2023, from the reporter Lamro Agave Meha, LP/B/83/XI/2023, dated November 3, 2023, from the reporter Agustina Hasugian and LP/B/1388/XI/2023, dated November 20, 2023, from the reporter Lewiton Hasugian.

Then, the Humbahas Police issued a summons and a warrant for detention of DH, to be detained against the alleged embezzlement, then an arrest was made on Thursday (9/1).

"From the results of the interrogation, it is suspected that the suspect used his position to make fake records. This mode makes it easier for the suspect to transfer customer funds to his personal account without the knowledge of the fund owner," said Hary.

The police chief said the suspect was charged with Article 374 of the Criminal Code concerning Embezzlement in Position, subsidiary to Article 372 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of up to four years in prison.

The investigation process has entered its final stage, and the case file will immediately be transferred to the Humbang Hasundutan District Attorney.

"We have collected sufficient evidence and named DH as a suspect. We are committed to resolving this case as soon as possible," he said.

This case sparked the anger of CU RP customers. They feel betrayed by financial managers who should protect their funds because they ask for justice and return their lost money.
