Indonesian Foreign Minister: Indonesia Is A Pioneer Of Change, Part Of Solutions, Bridges Of Various Differences

JAKARTA - Long history of active and consistent diplomacy shows that Indonesia is a pioneer, part of different solutions and bridges in global strategic relations, said Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono.

Foreign Minister Sugino said that the history of diplomacy shows that Indonesia does not remain silent or just accept the reality that occurs in global strategic relations.

Starting from KAA in 1955, then the formation of the 1967 ASEAN. From initiating the concept of an archipelagic country recognized by the world in UNCLOS 1982 to the ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific in 2019, said Foreign Minister Sugiono.

"The history of Indonesian diplomacy consistently shows that Indonesia is the pioneer of change and has always been part of the solutions and bridges of various differences," said the Indonesian Foreign Minister in the 2025 Minister of Foreign Affairs' Annual Press Statement (PPTM) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday, January 10.

"Of course, the bridge is not enough just to be built, but it must also be passed together," he continued.

Referring to the message of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, Foreign Minister Sugiono said, "peace can only be created if we work together. The world does not need more divisions and rivalry".

"On the other hand, the world needs collaborative, inclusive leadership by embracing all countries," he said.

Foreign Minister Sugiono said the diplomacy needed at this time was the one who answered the challenges bravely through innovative ways.

"Under the leadership of President Prabowo, Indonesia will position itself on the world stage, in accordance with its dignity as a big country and as a trusted partner, as well as good neighbors," he said.

"In this context, our diplomacy is not only responsive to crises, but also must be anticipatory, progressive and visionary," said the Indonesian Foreign Minister.

He added, in various meetings between the President of the Republic of Indonesia and world leaders, it seemed big, there were many high hopes that were placed on Indonesia to play a more important role on the international stage.
