JAKARTA - A Russian guided bomb attack killed 13 people and injured 113 people in the city of Zaporizhia in southeastern Ukraine.

The explosion caused many bodies to travel along the road with injured residents. Public transportation was also damaged by the attack.

The high-rise apartment block was damaged along with other industrial and infrastructure facilities, the Ukrainian prosecutor's office said via Telegram.

Reported by Reuters on Thursday, January 9, the debris hit trams and buses with passengers on board.

Regional Governor Ivan Fedorov said Russian troops used two guided bombs to attack residential areas.

Ten of the 60 people hospitalized after the attack were still in serious condition.

According to Fedorov, the city's medical services received the largest number of requests for assistance after attacks since the start of Russia's massive invasion on February 24, 2022.

"Nothing is more cruel than launching an air bomb into a city, knowing that ordinary civilians will suffer," President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on X.

Fedorov said Russian troops opened fire on the city of Stepnohirsk, south of Zaporizhia, killing two people. Two residents were pulled alive from below the rubble.
