The East Java Regional Police Will Check The Bus Company For The Bali Vocational School Student Group Who Rem Blong In Batu

The East Java Regional Police (Polda) Ditlantas confirmed to conduct an examination of the tourism bus owner who was involved in an accident because the brakes failed in Batu City, on Wednesday (8/1) night.

Dirlantas Polda East Java Kombes Komarudin said the examination of the transportation service provider was part of the process of developing an investigation into yesterday's accident.

"We will also develop an investigation into PO (the bus auto company)," said Komarudin as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, January 9.

The examination of the company was not without reason, because the bus that had an accident in Batu City, KIR was found and the transport permit was in an expired or inactive condition.

KIR bus pariwisata with police number DK-7942-GB has expired since December 15, 2023. Meanwhile, the transportation permit is no longer active as of April 26, 2020.

Not only the problem of documents, Komarudin stated that he also found that three other buses in Batu City from the same PO did not meet the roadworthiness requirements.

This was known after the police together with the Batu City Transportation Service and East Java Province conducted a ramp check on the three buses.

The four bus groups transported a group from SMK TI Bali Global Badung, Bali, in the context of industrial visits to Semarang, Yogyakarta, and Malang.

"So the group has a total of four buses with a total of 160 participants. We managed to stop the three more buses and happened to be still in Batu City. In fact, after we did a water check, the three bus groups were not like walking," he said.

He explained that during the vehicle inspection process, officers found several conditions that supported that the three bus units were categorized as not roadworthy.

"The condition of these broken tires is not very roadworthy, there are letters, KIR, and STNK that died," he said.

Because his condition was considered dangerous for the group of students, the police did not give permission to travel to the three buses.

Komarudin also stated that his party had asked the company to provide buses that were in a suitable condition to bring the students back to Bali.

"We have taken a firm decision so that the PO will immediately replace the bus with what is feasible to run. Bring it here to bring the participants back," he said.

He made sure to provide escort to the bus groups that students were traveling in to the Banyuwangi Regency area.

"We will escort the return of the participants to the crossing in Ketapang," he said.
