PDIP Spokesperson: KPK Must Examine Jokowi And Effendi Simbolon Regarding Allegations Of Obstruction Of Justice

Spokesperson for PDIP, Mohamad Guntur Romli, assessed that the KPK must examine the 7th Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and Effendi Simbolon regarding the alleged obstruction of investigation (Obstruction of Justice) in the Harun Masiku case.

This was conveyed by Guntur in response to the statement of eke PDIP politician Effendi Simbolon who said Jokowi had been helping PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto not to be targeted by the KPK after Harun Masiku was fugitive for the PAW bribery case for members of the DPR RI. Effendi said this in the context of denying allegations of legal politicization against Hasto.

"If the intention of Effendi Simbolon's words, 'Jokowi helps Mas Hasto in the Harun Masiku (HM) case', meaning that Effendi Simbolon's words confirm the public assumption that Jokowi can intervene with the KPK, it means that it is true that the KPK has been Jokowi's tool so far," said Guntur in his statement, Thursday, January 9.

"So, the KPK must also examine Jokowi and Effendi Simbolon regarding the alleged obstruction of justice which indicates Effendi Simbolon's statement, Jokowi helps hinder the investigation of the HM case," he continued.

Guntur emphasized that Hasto himself admitted that he did not feel helped in the HM case. Because if it is really helped, according to him, the HM case should not have existed from the start.

"In fact, what is felt is that the HM case has the power of 'hands of power' who use this case to attack the Secretary General and PDI Perjuangan. Who can move the KPK? If it is true, said Effendi Simbolon, then of course Jokowi," he said.

Guntur said that Hasto had denied that Jokowi had helped him deal with the case. Instead, according to Guntur, Hasto has been helping Jokowi during his time as president of the Republic of Indonesia.

"The Secretary General of the PDI-P, Hasto Kristiyanto, denied Effendi Simbolon's statement. Due to the fact that it was reversed and contrary to the actual reality, it was Mas Hasto who had been helping Pak Jokowi," explained Guntur.

During Jokowi's tenure as president, Guntur continued, Hasto was offered the position of minister and any position. However, Hasto always refused. "Mas Hasto did not participate in enjoying Jokowi's power," he said.

As Secretary General of the PDI-P, Guntur said that Hasto wanted to remain independent and keep his distance from power because he did not want to be a 'hostile' by accepting public positions or becoming a state official.

"However, as Secretary General of the PDI-P, Mas Hasto's totality supports and helps Jokowi because of the instructions of the Chairperson of the PDI-P Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri and all party cadres," he said.

Previously, Effendi Simbolon said that Jokowi had helped Hasto a lot from the KPK's shot after Harun Masiku was fugitive for the PAW bribery case for members of the DPR RI.

This was said by Effendi in response to allegations of legal politicization experienced by Hasto.

"No (law politicization, ed). As far as I know, Mr. Jokowi actually helped him, as far as I know so far. The proof is that up to the old KPK leadership period, there has not been any criticism, this is a new period," said Effendi in Jakarta, Wednesday, January 8.

When asked further about Jokowi's assistance to Hasto whether to escape the KPK's pursuit, Effendi said, the former governor of Jakarta paid attention to the case that dragged the name of the secretary general.

"Yes, it means that he will actually pay attention, no one has ever been accused of that," he said.
