Russia currently does not have enough aircraft to meet demand for air travel, which is increasing as Moscow's war efforts trigger economic growth, raise wages, and people's tendency to shop.
Western sanctions over Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 have cut supply of aircraft and spare parts, which cannot be replaced by domestic production.
