Indonesian Navy Personnel Involved In Shooting On Merak-Tangerang Toll Road Examined By Puspomal

The Naval Military Police Center (Puspomal) conducted an investigation into the shooting case at KM 45 rest area of the Merak-Tangerang toll road involving three members of the Indonesian Navy, on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

Danpuspomal Rear Admiral TNI Samista said that on Saturday, January 4, 2025, his party had moved to find preliminary evidence as well as coordinate with the Banten Police.

"The results of the investigation, it is true that the shooting at Kilometer 45 was carried out by Indonesian Navy personnel. We Puspomal will continue to investigate and are now in the process of being investigated," Rear Admiral TNI Samista told reporters, Monday, January 6.

Rear Admiral TNI Samista emphasized that Puspomal had secured the perpetrators.

"We have secured the perpetrators. We from the ranks of the Navy will always be open and will convey the facts as they are," he said.

"If there is one true involvement that leads to a criminal act, the ranks of military police will of course check according to applicable legal provisions," he added.

Currently, Puspomal continues to investigate. The Indonesian Navy promised to process it according to applicable regulations.

"We have secured the perpetrators, and we have received some evidence, both from the regional police and those we have obtained in the field," he said.

Previously, the Commander of the Indonesian Fleet Command (Pangkoarmada), Vice Admiral TNI Denih Hendrata explained the beginning of the shooting incident at KM 45 rest area of the Merak-Tangerang toll road on Thursday, January 2, 2025, which allegedly involved three members of the Indonesian Navy.

According to Vice Admiral TNI Denih Hendrata, he received a report on January 2, 2025 evening at around 20.00 from the Head of Intel Pangko Armada RI that 3 members of the TNI were at the base of Dayu's cottage.

The three TNI members were named Sertu AA, RAST RH and KLKBA. They were beaten by about 15 unknown people in the Km 45 rest area of Merak Tangerang toll road.

"Insidents based on the main problem, namely the purchase of a car, in the incident it was admitted that one of the members carried out the shooting," he said, Monday, January 6, 2025.

In the incident, one person was killed and one person injured.

"Currently, the three members are in the investigation process at Puspomal. If the investigation of the members involved by the puspomal is complete, it will then be stated in the examination report or BAP," he said.
