The North Coast Of Jakarta Potentially Becomes A Tourist And Special Economy Area

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta Provincial DPRD Khoirudin said the north coast could be one of the strategic projects as a tourism area and a special economic zone to support Jakarta as a global city.

"There is a SEZ (Special Economic Zone) in which there is very easy and cheap economic activity. We hope to become a comfortable and competitive shopping place for Jakarta residents and Southeast Asian citizens, in North Jakarta," said Khoirudin as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, January 4.

Khoirudin welcomed the positive vision of Jakarta to become a global city that is equal to the big cities of the world.

With the age of Jakarta heading for 500 years, Khoirudin said that Jakarta is indeed worthy of becoming a global city and a business city.

"It is appropriate for Jakarta to become a global city and we welcome this along with Jakarta to become a city that is five centuries old," said Khoirudin.

Related to this, this northern coastal area is planned to be developed into a tourism and business area that can attract investment and facilitate economic activities of the community.

According to Khoirudin, Jakarta's vision to become a global city is in line with the Regional Regulation (Perda) of the Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD) and the Regional Spatial Planning Regional Regulation (RTRW). "We welcome our two regional regulations," he said.

The Regional Regulation on the RPJPD and the Regional Regulation on Spatial Planning has been approved, whose spirit is Jakarta as a global city. "City that is equal to big cities in the world as well as business cities," explained Khoirudin.

In addition, Khoirudin emphasized that the transformation of Jakarta towards a global city is not only a matter of regulation but also requires community readiness.

As a big city, the global city index is also a measure in building Jakarta. "This is an opportunity and a challenge for us to be together, not only the regulatory and economic side, but also the people who must also be ready," he said.
