JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) collected 132 tons of waste from New Year's Eve and the number increased by two tons when compared to the previous year's 130 tons.
"We initially predicted that we could collect 150 tons of waste," said Head of DLH DKI Jakarta Asep Kuswanto in Jakarta, Wednesday.
According to him, the initial prediction is that the waste produced will increase in weight because it is predicted to rain, but on New Year's Eve the weather in Jakarta is sunny so the waste collected is still dry.
He explained that the amount of waste came from all over Jakarta.
"We also express our gratitude to residents who take part in the appeal not to litter and use a refilled drinking bottle. This makes the handling process faster," he said.

"So that all roads and celebration points for New Year's Eve are clean of garbage in the early morning of 2025," he said.
Previously, Asep ensured that all the waste left over the New Year's Eve celebrations in the area would be completed before 05.00 WIB.
According to him, after the New Year's Eve celebration was over, the officers immediately cleaned up the garbage scattered in crowded centers such as HI Roundabout, Monas, Kota Tua, Ancol and so on.
Asep said that the scattered garbage would be handled by the cleaning staff before 05.00 WIB.
He explained that the officers would be equipped with 68 leveraged trucks, 53 road sweepers and 27 cross-cars.
"We usually target at 5 am," he said.
