Russian Missiles And Drones Hit Ukraine Ahead Of New Year's Eve 2025

JAKARTA - Russia launched airstrikes on Ukraine 21 hours before New Year's Eve 2025 or Tuesday 31 December at 03.00 local time.

Citing AP, the Ukrainian Air Force reported two ballistic missile explosions hit Kyiv early this morning.

A missile warning re-emerged at 08.00 a.m. followed by at least one explosion in the Ukrainian capital.

The local government said it had not recorded any data regarding the possible casualties, but found missile debris falling in the Darnytskyi District of the Kyiv region.

Meanwhile, other Russian airstrikes targeted the northeastern Sumy region, near Shostka City, the residence area of the Mayor of Mykola Noha.

A total of 12 residential buildings were damaged and two educational facilities were destroyed by the airstrikes.

The Ukrainian Air Force also reported that several other regions in Ukraine were also attacked by Russian drones and missiles.

About half of Ukraine's energy infrastructure has been destroyed during the war with Russia. Turny power outages are common and widespread in the country.
