Woman In Aceh Arrested Using Rp100 Thousand Fake Money At Suzuya Mall

ACEH - Lhokseumawe Police, Aceh, arrested a woman with the initials NA (44) for allegedly circulating counterfeit money during a transaction at a shopping center.

"The perpetrator and evidence have now been handed over to the Tipidter Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Lhokseumawe Police for further investigation," said Lhokseumawe Police Chief AKBP Henki Ismanto, through the Banda Sakti Police Chief Iptu Zul Akbar.

Iptu Zul said the alleged perpetrator was a resident of Alue Dua Village, Stepan District, North Aceh Regency. The perpetrator was first arrested by the security forces at Suzuya Lhokseumawe Mall on Friday, December 27 before being handed over to the police.

"The person concerned is suspected of circulating counterfeit notes of Rp. 100,000 when transacting at several outlets at Suzuya Mall," he said.

This case was revealed when one of the cashiers at Suzuya Mall suspected the money used by NA.

After being examined using UV light, it turned out that the money did not have the Bank Indonesia (BI) logo so it was declared fake. Mall officers then reported this to the Banda Sakti Police.

Not only that, continued Zul Akbar, before being secured, NA was also suspected of throwing several counterfeit notes into the toilets of a local shopping center. During the initial search, 15 pieces of counterfeit money were also found in the perpetrator's wallet.

In addition, counterfeit money was also found scattered in JCO outlets, Colden Ice, and the mall's main cashier. In total, 19 counterfeit notes were found in Rp100 thousand denominations along with several payment receipts," he said.

On this occasion, he also appealed to the public to be more careful and always be aware of the circulation of counterfeit money.

"We urge the public to be more aware of the circulation of counterfeit money, especially in shopping centers," said Iptu Zul Akbar.
