JAKARTA - Wasekjen DPP Ikatan Pedagang Pasar Indonesia (IKAPPI), Morai asked the Provincial Government of DKI under the leadership of Anies Baswedan to make insurance for market traders after the fire of two markets in Jakarta some time ago.

On April 8, Pasar Lontar or Pasar Kambing, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta caught fire and burned 174 stalls. The loss reached Rp1 billion. Then, on April 12, a fire engulfed 389 stalls of Pasar Inpres Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta with losses reaching Rp2 billion.

Morai said that the insurance they need can be in the form of kiosk insurance, merchandise, or life insurance for market traders.

"IKAPPI encourages the Provincial Government of DKI and PD Pasar Jaya to prepare insurance for market traders. Staying later can be considered the right regulation for the insurance," Morai said in his statement, Thursday, April 15.

In addition, IKAPPI also asked the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to provide compensation to traders whose stalls were burned in Pasar Inpres Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta on April 12.

He said that the assistance of burned business compensation from the Provincial Government of Dki Jakarta could ease the burden on the victims of traders to maintain their economy.

"We ask the Provincial Government of Dki Jakarta to be able to provide compensation for the fires that occurred in this holy month. Because it was a heavy blow, a deep sorrow, our trade was on fire," he said.

In addition, Morai encouraged PD Pasar Jaya as the market manager to train traders to be able to conduct blackouts against market fires.

"The trainings can work with damkar services, fire departments and several other agencies," he said.
