Prabowo Discourses Governor Elected By DPRD, Gerindra DKI: There Must Be Pros And Cons

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Rani Mauliani, responded to the discourse of President Prabowo Subianto who wanted the governor until the regent was appointed by the DPRD.

Rani admits that Prabowo's proposal regarding the change in the regional head election system will cause differences of opinion in public. Therefore, the proposal really needs to be studied in depth.

"Not in a hurry, in my opinion, because everything must also go through studies and discussions and there must be pros and cons as well. So before becoming a program, an agenda, it must be considered carefully," Rani said in a short message, Monday, December 16.

However, he continued, the discourse of the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party regarding regional heads being elected by the DPRD was a fairly good proposal. This is because direct appointment of regional heads can suppress the use of state money which has been disbursed for general elections (elections) and regional elections.

"As long as the selection or fit and proper test candidate must go through the right mechanism and screening, correct, and clear, it is qualified as a regional minister with very good experience and track record," said Rani.

"Even if chosen by the community, they can immediately share the results together. So, if things are not appropriate, they don't necessarily complain to the DPRD," he added.

Previously, Prabowo invited all general chairmen and leaders of political parties who were present at the Peak of the 60th Anniversary of the Golkar Party in Bogor, West Java, Thursday, December 12, to improve the political system that consumes tens of trillions in one or two days of each election.

The DPRD's discourse on regional head elections also emerged after President Prabowo Subianto alluded to the political system in Indonesia which was considered expensive and inefficient when compared to neighboring countries.

"I see that our neighboring countries are efficient. Malaysia, Singapore, India, once they choose DPRD members, once they choose, they have chosen governors, vote for regents. Efficients, no money comes out, money comes out, money comes out, like us," said Prabowo.

Prabowo said Indonesia should not be ashamed to admit that the possibility of a political system in the country is too expensive. According to him, the faces of the winning regional head candidates also seem sluggish because of the high cost of politics.

"The winner is sluggish, especially the loser. We must dare to correct ourselves, therefore I appreciate that the general chairman of the brother is observant, I say he is intelligent. That's why Indonesian children have to eat a lot of fish," said Prabowo.
