JAKARTA - Recently, the issue of the reshuffle of ministers in the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet of Joko Widodo-Ma'ruf Amin's government in line with the change of new nomenclature, namely the merger of the Ministry of Research and Technology (Kemenristek) with the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud), as well as the establishment of the Ministry of Investment.

After this decision was agreed by the House of Representatives, council members believed the reshuffle of the nomenclature would inevitably be followed by a cabinet reshuffle.

"The logic is that when there are added ministries there must be filled", said Chairman of the Education Commission X of the House of Representatives Saiful Huda, Friday, April 9.

Shortly thereafter, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin were reported to have discussed the issue of reshuffle the Indonesia Maju cabinet.

This was conveyed by the Vice President's Spokesman Masduki Baidlowi. He justified the issue of ministerial change that was being talked about publicly.

"Of course the Vice President has been blown up, invited by the president", Masduki Baidlowi said at an online press conference, Monday, April 12.

Based on VOI records, at least 31 ministers have been replaced by President Jokowi in the period 2014-2019 and 2019-2024. Anyone? Here's the list!

List of ministers that Jokowi has replaced during his tenure as President

1. First Reshuffle (Working Cabinet)

The first change of ministers took place on 12 August 2015. He overhauled the composition of the Working Cabinet he formed on 27 October 2014. Here are the names that were changed along with the fields.

- Sofyan Djalil was removed as Minister of Economy, and replaced by Darmin Nasution.

- Andrinof Chaniago was removed as Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, and replaced by Sofyan Djalil.

- Indroyono Susilo was removed as Minister of Maritime Affairs and replaced by Rizal Ramli.

- Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno was removed as Minister of Police and replaced by Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

- Rachmat Gobel was removed as Minister of Trade and replaced by Thomas Lembong.

- Andi Widjajanto was removed as Cabinet Secretary, replaced by Pramono Anung.

- Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan was released as Chief of Presidential Staff, replaced by Teten Masduki.

2. Second Reshuffle (Working Cabinet)

On July 27, 2016, Jokowi, accompanied by Jusuf Kalla, again removed several ministers in the Working Cabinet. Some of the names that were changed include:

- Ignasius Jonan was removed as Minister of Transportation and replaced by Budi Karya Sumadi.

- Sofyan Djalil was removed as Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas, replaced by Bambang Brodjonegoro.

- Bambang Brodjonegoro was removed as Minister of Finance and replaced by Sri Mulyani Indrawati.

- Ferry Mursidan Baldan was removed as Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Affairs, replaced by Sofyan Djalil.

- Sudirman Said was removed as minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, replaced by Archandra Tahar. However, because of the dual citizenship issue, Archandra only served less than a month. He was replaced by Ignasius Jonan, while he held the position of Deputy Minister.

- Saleh Husin was removed as Minister of Industry, replaced by Airlangga Hartarto.

- Anies Baswedan was removed as Minister of Education and Culture, replaced by Mujadjir Effendy.

- Marwan Jafar was removed as Minister of Villages and PDTT, replaced by Eko Putro Sanjojo.

- Yuddy Chrisnadi was removed as Minister of PAN-RB, replaced by Asman Abnur.

- Rizal Ramli was removed as Minister of Maritime Affairs, replaced by Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

- Luhut was removed as Minister of Police and replaced by Wiranto.

- Thomas Lembong was removed as Minister of Trade, replaced by Enggartiasto Lukita.

- Franky Sibarani was appointed head of BKPM and replaced by Thomas Lembong. Franky Sibarani served as Deputy Minister of Industry.

3. Third Reshuffle (Working Cabinet)

Jokowi's next Cabinet reshuffle took place on January 17, 2018. The names that were changed are:

- Khofifah Indar Parawansa resigned as Minister of Social Affairs and was replaced by Idrus Marham.

- Teten Masduki was removed as Chief of Presidential Staff replaced by Moeldoko.

4. Fourth Reshuffle (Working Cabinet)

The last change of ministers in the Working Cabinet took place on 15 August 2018. Ministers who were removed include:

- Asman Abnur was removed as Minister of PAN-RB and replaced by Syafruddin.

- Idrus Marham reshuffled as Mensos for tripping over a corruption case. He was replaced by Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita on 24 August 2018.

5. Fifth Reshuffle (Advanced Indonesian Cabinet)

The fifth reshuffle occurred on December 22, 2020, or a year after President Joko Widodo formed the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet in his second term of leadership. Here are the details:

- Tri Rismaharini was appointed as Minister of Social Affairs, replacing Juliari Batubara who became a suspect in a corruption case.

- Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno was appointed minister of tourism and creative economy, replacing Wishnutama Kusubandio.

- Budi Gunadi Sadikin was appointed as Minister of Health, replacing Terawan Agus Putranto.

- Yaqut Cholil Quomas or better known as Gus Yaqut was appointed minister of religion, replacing Fachrul Razi.

- Wahyu Sakti Trenggono was appointed as Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), replacing Edhy Prabowo who was entangled in a corruption case.

- Muhammad Lutfi was appointed as Minister of Trade, replacing Agus Suparmanto.
