Russia says Ukraine is attacking a military airfield in the Azov Sea with six US-made ATACMS ballistic missiles.
Russia's Defense Ministry said two missiles fired by Ukraine were shot down by the Pantsir missile defense system.
"On the morning of December 11, 2024, the Kyiv regime launched a missile strike with Western precision weapons at the Taganrog military airfield in the Rostov region," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
"West long-range gun attacks will not be left alone and appropriate action will be taken," added the Ministry of Defense.
Russia fired a new medium-range hypersonic ballistic missile known as the "Oreshnik", or Thug Tree, into Ukraine on November 21, which President Vladimir Putin said was a direct response to attacks by Ukrainian troops against Russia with US and UK missiles.
A US official said Russia might launch another hypersonic ballistic missile into Ukraine in the coming days.
