JAKARTA - A new, eco-friendly and floating hotel, designed to generate its own electricity by rotating, while guests relax on the boat.
Led by Hayri Atak Architectural Design Studio (HAADS), the structure will actually move, meaning it can move from one place to another, never resting in a permanent position. Construction began in March 2020 and the architects aim to be up and running by 2025.
Planned to be based in Qatar, this floating hotel has the potential to be placed in a different area due to its mobility.
The design can minimize the waste of free energy and apply the principle of zero waste. Because it will rotate all day long, it will generate electrical energy to power the entire hotel.
But guests will not feel too dizzy, even though for 24 hours a day this hotel will rotate 360 degrees.
The floating hotel will remain in the area with a continuous flow, to make sure it always rotates. This type of environmentally friendly production is called 'vawtau' (vertical axis wind turbine and umbrella) which works like a wind turbine on a vertical axis and functions as a sun umbrella on the shore band.
But the structure will also use rainwater to generate power. The cover at the top of the hotel will collect rain which will be used for water recycling. This is when the wastewater is returned to the toilet, washing machine or outdoor faucet to maximize efficiency.
In general, the entire surface area of this hotel is around 35,000 square meters and there are a total of 152 rooms. The hotel will have three different entrances, allowing access to land at any time, thanks to the 140-degree pier that surrounds it.
There will also be indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, spa, gym, mini golf course and other activity areas. Interesting right?
As a comparison, there are three other floating hotels in the world that are no less beautiful and are equally concerned about environmental conservation. First, the Punta Carcol Acqua Lodge which is located in Panama.
Next there is the Manta Resort which is located in Tanzania. This floating resort on Tanzania's Pemba Island is an escape from the digital world. Finally, there is the River Kwai Jungle Rafts, which is located in a tropical rain forest on the banks of the River Kwai, Thailand.
