JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to inaugurate the operation of Jalan Layang Madukoro, Semarang City, Central Java, as the first infrastructure project to be inaugurated during his term as President of the Republic of Indonesia today.

This was conveyed by the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works Rachman Arief while on Jalan Layang Madukoro Semarang, ahead of the inauguration agenda.

"Today's activities will be inaugurated by the Madukoro Flyover by President Prabowo Subianto," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 11.

President Prabowo is scheduled to arrive at the inauguration location at around 10:00 WIB accompanied by Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo and his staff, and a number of other relevant officials.

The flyover, which is domiciled in West Semarang District, began construction from April 2023 to May 2024 by absorbing a budget of IDR 198.9 billion.

The flyover infrastructure stretches along 221 meters with a total length of flyovers and a connecting road of 1,597 meters and a width of 19 meters.

The benefits of this infrastructure include unraveling congestion or traffic queues, especially at Simpang Arterial (Maduoro) on the vital route of Pantura Java, including towards Ahmad Yani Airport and Tanjung Mas Port.

The flyover also supports national strategic tourism areas such as Borobudur, Yogyakarta, and Prambanan, which are expected to reduce the risk of accidents.

The road is built separately for the opposite direction, so that traffic flow is more controlled.

The Ministry of Public Works also estimates that the efficiency of operating costs for vehicles will reach Rp. 119,600/hour, which was originally Rp. 193,800/hour to Rp.74,200/hour.
