IKN Mosque Targeted For Eid Prayer 2025

Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar said the State Mosque in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) was prepared to become a mosque for the pride of the Indonesian people.

He said the IKN State Mosque was targeted to be operational and used for Eid prayers on 1 Syawal 1446 Hijriah, which falls in 2025.

"We hope so. One of our proud mosques will be," said Nasaruddin as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 9.

The Minister of Religion said that later there would be a high priest who also led the community to worship at the State Mosque of IKN.

The hope is that the presence of the IKN State Mosque can complement Indonesia's existence in the eyes of the world, which was also previously known for having an iconic mosque, namely the Istiqlal Mosque which is also historic in Jakarta.

Previously, it was reported on Saturday (7/12) that the IKN Mosque was targeted to be used in Eid al-Fitr 1446H prayers with a capacity of up to 5,580 worshipers.

Officials at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Hariqo Wibawa Satria in his statement stated that the State Mosque which is being built in IKN as a whole is designed to accommodate up to 60,000 worshipers.

In the early stages, this mosque was prepared to operate to be able to accommodate 29,000 worshipers.

The IKN State Mosque construction project is currently still in the first phase, which includes the construction of a mosque main building with four floors, two mezzanine floors, and a two-story courtyard that functions as a multipurpose and parking area.

PCO informed that the mosque building is located on an area of 32,125 square meters with a total building area, including the plaza, reaching 60,173 square meters.

In addition, the mosque is also equipped with a Minaret covering an area of 427 square meters, a two-story commercial building covering an area of 2,212 square meters, and a support building covering an area of 727 square meters.

Hariqo hopes that this project will become one of the religious and cultural icons in IKN, as well as a symbol of the splendor of new civilization in Indonesia.

"This mosque will coexist in the center of worship area with other places of worship, such as churches, temples, monasteries, pagodas and Basilica Nusantara Santo Francis Xaverius, which is the first basilica in Indonesia," he said.
