Mendikdasmen: Kajian PPDB Sistem Zoning Masih Berlangsung

SOLO Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti revealed that the acceptance of new students (PPDB) with a zoning system is still in the study stage. The final decision regarding this system will be determined through a cabinet meeting.

"The assessment process regarding the PPDB zoning system is still ongoing," said Abdul Mu'ti in Solo, Central Java, as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, December 8.

He explained that decisions regarding the zoning system cannot be taken unilaterally by the Ministry of Education, but must go through joint discussions with the relevant ministries.

"Decisions regarding zoning will be decided after cabinet meetings," he said.

Abdul Mu'ti also stated that until now, his party had not received direct directions from President Prabowo Subianto regarding the policy. "Until now, the decision regarding the PPDB zoning system is still waiting for the results of the meeting," he added.

Previously, Abdul Mu'ti said that the zoning system study involved various parties, including the head of the education office from all over Indonesia, experts, to stakeholders in the field of education.

He hopes that the zoning system can be improved and implemented with a new approach in the coming school year. "We are continuing to study these various weaknesses. We hope that in the 2025-2026 academic year, a new zoning system that has gone through in-depth studies can be implemented," explained Abdul Mu'ti.

Abdul Mu'ti also met President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace in mid-November. During the meeting, he discussed the direction of the zoning-based PPDB policy. "The final decision will be discussed and decided in a cabinet meeting," he concluded.

The PPDB zoning system has become a topic of long discussions, with a number of challenges and weaknesses that need to be resolved. The ministry hopes that a better system can provide equal access to education for all students in Indonesia.
