JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Education Office (Disdik) has started disbursing the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) Plus and the Jakarta Superior Student Card (KJMU) phase II in 2024 starting today.

Acting Head of DKI Jakarta Education Office, Sarjoko, said that the disbursement of funds was carried out in stages to 523,622 KJP Plus participant students and 15,648 KJMU participants. However, KJP and KJMU have not been distributed to new recipients today.

"Alhamdulillah, the distribution of social assistance for education went smoothly. For new recipients, please be patient, because there is still an administrative process being carried out by Bank DKI. However, we will continue to strive so that the distribution is right on target," said Sarjoko in his statement, Friday, December 6.

The disbursement of funds for new KJP Plus and KJMU Phase II recipients in 2024 will only be carried out after the process of opening an account, printing savings books and ATMs, handing over savings books and ATMs, as well as transferring funds to the beneficiary account by Bank DKI.

On the one hand, Sarjoko hopes that this educational assistance can help students to get quality education.

"The government certainly wants social assistance in this field of education to improve the quality of education for students in Jakarta who come from poor families. So, Jakarta residents get quality education to build the 2045 Golden Generation," explained Sarjoko.

The distribution of KJP Plus and KJMU phase II was delayed. Sarjoko explained that the DKI Provincial Government has postponed the distribution of social assistance sourced from the regional budget (APBD) until after the voting day on November 27, 2024.

This is done to minimize the potential for misuse of social assistance as a political tool during the election period to the regions.

"For that, we apologize for the delay in disbursing KJP Plus and KJMU in DKI Jakarta. However, we make sure that this social assistance budget will be received by people who need it on target," said Purwosusilo.
