SUKABUMI - Floods and landslides hit a number of areas in Sukabumi, West Java, last Tuesday. Based on reports from some isolated residents and access to providing assistance was disrupted because 10 bridges were cut off.

Based on temporary data compiled by the BNPB Operations Control Center (Pusdalops) from the Sukabumi Regency BPBD report as of Thursday, December 5, at least ten bridges were damaged or cut off due to this disaster. As a result, several areas were isolated because road access could not be passed by two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles.

One of the areas severely affected is Simpenan District, where the bridge which is the main link between residents' activities was heavily damaged by the material carried by the flood.

Deputy for Emergency Management of BNPB, Major General TNI Lukmansyah, while inspecting the disaster site, conveyed an emergency handling plan.

"We will map the damaged bridge and determine priorities for construction. Emergency bridges will soon be prepared to support the mobility of residents," said Lukmansyah.

He added that the bailey bridge will be built by involving personnel from the Ministry of PUPR and the Siliwangi Military Command III Engineer Battalion. This is done to facilitate the distribution of logistical assistance and equipment needed by affected residents.

Meanwhile, the number of victims who died increased to two people, namely Aden Dafa and Ade Wahyu, both residents of Simpenan District.

In addition, six people were reported missing. The details are two people from Tegalbuleud District, one person from Pabuaran District, one person from Gegerbitung District and two people from Simpenan District.

This disaster also caused severe damage to residents' residences. A total of 216 houses were recorded to have been damaged.

Authorities continue to search for missing victims and efforts to deal with the impact of disasters. The public is advised to remain vigilant against potential aftershocks, considering that extreme weather is still continuing in several areas.
