Two Drugmakers Happy Water In Semarang Escaped The Death Penalty

Two defendants who mixed happy water, located in a house on Jalan Ngesrep Barat, Semarang City, Central Java, escaped the death penalty.

The Semarang District Court sentenced the defendants Padlil Raif and Firdaus to 20 years in prison.

The verdict read by Chief Judge Abd Kadir was lighter than the prosecutor's demands for the two defendants to be sentenced to death.

In addition to the corporal punishment, the two defendants were also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 10 billion, which if not paid, would be replaced with imprisonment for 1 year.

"To declare the defendant guilty of violating Article 113 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 5.

In their consideration, the judge disagreed with the prosecutor's demands.

According to the judge, the two defendants were the ones who were ordered to produce drugs.

Meanwhile, the owner of the capital or dealer, he said, has not been caught.

As for the aggravating considerations, the defendant's actions were deemed not to support the government's efforts to eradicate drugs which were extraordinary crimes and damaged the nation's generation.

Based on this decision, the public prosecutor expressed his thoughts.

Previously, the police exposed the practice of producing happy water in a house on Jalan Ngesrep Barat, Semarang City, Central Java, in April 2024.

Happy water, which has similarities in effects such as ecstasy, is similar to the disclosure of drugs that were previously carried out in Thailand.

The police have secured 1,200 happy water packages ready for distribution at the factory location.

In addition, there is evidence in the form of 14 kilograms of methamphetamine as raw material for the new type of drug which was confiscated in the disclosure.
