House 1 Of 7 Malaysian Drug Network Suspects In Batam Searched By The Riau Islands BNNP

KEPRI - The National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) of Riau Islands Province (Kepri) searched two locations in Batam regarding the suspect MD related to the Malaysian drug network in Batam City, Thursday, December 5.

The location of the first house where the suspect MD lives in Bukit Indah Sukajadi Housing Jalan Cemara Mas No. 10. Meanwhile, the location of the two houses of the suspect's parents is suspected of being used as a location for storing the proceeds of drug crimes, at the Palm Beach Housing Complex, Block A No. 20, Nongsa.

"So there were two simultaneous searches in three locations, two in Batam, one in Aceh," said Head of the Riau Islands BNNP Brigadier General Pol. Hanny Hidayat in Batam, Thursday, December 5, was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the search was carried out by the results of the disclosure of the case of methamphetamine drug smuggling which was successfully thwarted by the Riau Islands BNNP on November 29, 2024.

From the disclosure, he said, four suspects were arrested, each with the initials MD, SY, MS and MH.

Then the results of the development showed that three new suspects were still in the process of being investigated.

"There were seven suspects who were arrested, they were not necessarily detained," he said.

This disclosure began with information from the public that there would be an attempt to circulate illicit narcotics at Badminton Beach, Mata Ikan Bay, Sambau Village, Nongsa District, Batam City.

From this information, the Riau Islands BNNP officers investigated and suspected that a man was holding two black bags and was immediately arrested.

The suspect admitted that he was named Muhammad, from his hands, 40 plastic packages with the words "good day Chinese pin wei" containing crystals suspected of being narcotics class I of methamphetamine weighing 40 thousand grams or 40 kg.

From the arrest of Muhammad (MD), development was carried out, one man named Syahril was arrested at the same location.

"The results of the Syaril examination played a role in picking up Muhammad who was carrying methamphetamine," he said.

Furthermore, further development was carried out and Saturday, November 30, officers again arrested Muslims at the Batam Center International Port, Batam City, who played a role in giving methamphetamine to Muhammad on the Malaysian Rengit River.

Then on Sunday, December 1, officers carried out control delievery on M. Halim who would order four kg of crystal methamphetamine to the perpetrator Muhammad.

Officers secured M. Halim on the edge of Jalan Warung, Batu Ampar District, Batam City.

"Currently, evidence and four suspects are undergoing further investigation," he said.

The four suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) sub-Article 112 (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.
