Sukabumi Records Disasters At 33 Points, Residents Asked To Be Alert

SUKABUMI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sukabumi Regency noted that from the results of temporary data collection, hydrometeorological disasters hit 33 points in Sukabumi Regency, West Java, for two days yesterday.

"The majority of disaster cases occurred on Wednesday. As a result, hundreds of people were affected and even one resident was declared dead as a result of being buried by landslides in Gegerbitung District, which is still being searched," said Sukabumi Regency BPBD Chief Executive Deden Sumpena quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 5.

The results of the temporary recapitulation of disaster events for landslides occurred at 13 points, nine flood points, seven strong winds and land movement at four points spread across 22 sub-districts.

Then for the number of affected residents as many as 103 families or 243 people, 46 families or 93 people were evacuated and then threatened with seven families or 19 people and one person died.

Furthermore, the number of damaged houses was 40 units, with details of 36 lightly damaged units, three moderately damaged and one heavily damaged and six public facilities damaged. The total temporary loss reached Rp695 million.

According to Deden, the data is still temporary because until now disaster management officers are still conducting assessments and sweeping to record the number of affected residents and buildings.

In addition, joint disaster management officers are still in several disaster locations to monitor the conditions and security of disaster survivors, especially those who evacuate. Emergency assistance has begun to be distributed gradually to survivors.

On the other hand, his party welcomes the Sukabumi Regency Government to establish a disaster emergency response status, so that it can accelerate the disaster management process to the distribution of temporary assistance for survivors.
