Bawaslu Calls Political Saturation The Cause Of Participation In The 2024 Pilkada Voters In Low Jakut

JAKARTA - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) revealed a number of reasons for the low voter participation in North Jakarta (Jakut) in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada.

"If participation is low, for example, below 60 percent, it needs to be evaluated," said a member of the North Jakarta Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), Yapto Sendra in Jakarta, Friday, November 29, as quoted by Antara.

According to him, a number of things were the cause of low voter participation, such as political saturation, lack of socialization to the occurrence of technical obstacles.

"We see this as a serious concern and work with the KPU to overcome it in the future," he said.

He added that the voting process in North Jakarta during the Jakarta Pilkada on Wednesday, November 27 had been running according to the procedure, although there were still potential violations.

"Bawaslu will usually release official data regarding the findings of violations after the evaluation is complete," he said.

North Jakarta Bawaslu member Muhamad Shobirin said his party found voter participation to come to the Voting Station (TPS) in the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in the area quite low.

"That is our finding, but we are still waiting for the exact data until the official calculation is complete," he said.

Based on field observations, according to him, it is estimated that there will be a decline in voter participation in the Pilkada compared to during the presidential and legislative elections in February 2024.

"That not only happened in North Jakarta but also in other areas in Jakarta," he said.

The 2024 Jakarta Pilkada has been held on Wednesday 27 November. According to quick calculations, the pair Pramono Anung and Rano Karno are superior to other couples.

While the second position was occupied by pair number 1 Ridwan Kamil-Suswono and the last position was by pair number 2 Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana.
