Minister Natalius Pigai Invites Synergy Media To Strengthen Human Rights Awareness In Indonesia

The Minister of Human Rights (HAM) of the Republic of Indonesia, Natalius Pigai, emphasized the importance of respecting human rights without discrimination as the basis for the realization of a just and civilized nation.

In an audience with the Indonesian Cyber Media Network (JMSI) at the Ministry of Human Rights office, South Jakarta, Thursday, November 28, 2024, Pigai invited the media to become the government's strategic partner in increasing public awareness about the importance of respecting human rights.

"We all have a moral responsibility to ensure the rights of every individual are respected and protected. Cyber media has a big role in shaping public opinion that supports the values of justice and humanity," said Pigai.

Pigai also explained that the Ministry of Human Rights is formulating strategic policies to strengthen human rights protection in Indonesia. This policy is designed as a guide for all parties in carrying out their responsibility for human rights respect.

"Respect for human rights is an important pillar to strengthen national unity. All elements of society, without exception, must jointly carry out the principles of justice and equality in accordance with the vision of Asta Cita Presiden Prabowo Subianto," he said.

In the discussion, Pigai emphasized the crucial role of the media, especially cyber media, in building public awareness. According to him, media is an effective bridge to convey messages related to human rights and strengthen national solidarity.

Chairman of JMSI Teguh Santosa welcomed the invitation from the Minister of Human Rights. Teguh emphasized that JMSI fully supports the government's efforts to strengthen respect for human rights.

"JMSI believes that the media has a strategic role in educating the public about the importance of human rights respect. We are ready to support inclusive collaboration with the Ministry of Human Rights," said Teguh.

This audience was also attended by JMSI officials, such as the Head of the Secretariat and Member Data Collection, Ari Rahman, General Treasurer, Herwanto, and the Chairman of JMSI Jakarta, Wayan Sudane.

During the meeting, it was agreed that the synergy between the media and the government was very important to support the implementation of a more inclusive human rights policy.

The meeting closed with an agreement to continue more in-depth discussions on the role of the media in supporting the implementation of human rights policies that uphold human values.
