Firli Bahuri Letters To The Kapolda To The National Police Chief, Asks For Case Investigations To Be Stopped

JAKARTA - Former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri through his attorney wrote to the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The goal is to ask for the handling of all cases involving him to be stopped.

"We ask the National Police Chief to stop this case by issuing SP3," said Firli Bahuri's attorney, Ian Iskandar, to reporters, Thursday, November 28.

Not only to the National Police Chief, the application letter was also sent to the Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto and the National Police Commission (Kompolnas).

The request to stop handling the case on the grounds that the alleged criminal act of extortion or meeting with litigants while serving as Chairman of the KPK cannot be proven.

"The contents of the letter contain the legal travel process related to the substance of this case, which in our opinion cannot be proven legally," said Ian.

"So, it becomes obligatory for the case against Mr. Firli to be stopped. So the contents of our letter are," he continued.

Polda Metro Jaya is known to have investigated two alleged criminal acts involving Firli Bahuri. First, the alleged extortion of Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL as stipulated in Article 12e or 12B or Article 11 in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code.

In handling this case, Firli Bahuri was named a suspect on November 23, 2023.

Investigators have also examined 134 witnesses and experts to date. The number is likely to continue to grow as the handling of the case has not been completed.

The second alleged criminal act is a meeting with the berkaka party, namely SYL as stated in Article 36 junto Article 65 of the KPK Law.

In handling the case, 39 witnesses and experts have been examined. However, Firli Bahuri's status is still being reported.
