Evacuation Of 3 Victims Of Paslon Supporting Clashes In Puncak Jaya Is Detained Due To Limited Flights

JAKARTA - The Head of the Puncak Jaya Police, AKBP Kuswara, said that 10 victims of inter-supporting clashes between pairs of candidates for the Pilkada of Puncak Jaya Regency were evacuated to Jayapura.

The evacuation of victims of the dispute was carried out yesterday, Wednesday, November 27. However, currently there are still three victims who have not been evacuated, due to limited flights.

"The victims who have been evacuated are being treated at the Jayapura Hospital," said Kuswara when contacted from Jayapura, Thursday, November 28, as reported by Antara.

Kuswara said they were evacuated, due to serious injuries, while other victims who suffered minor injuries, after receiving treatment were allowed to go home.

From the data collected, it was stated that 94 people were injured and 40 houses were burned.

He said the dispute between the pairs of candidates had repeatedly occurred. Therefore, his party hopes that the candidates for regents and deputy regents can help defuse the dispute.

"Members are still on standby to anticipate attacks between the masses of the two supporters of the regent and deputy regent," said Kuswara.

The regional elections in Puncak Jaya Regency were attended by two pairs of candidates for regent and deputy regent, namely the Yuni Wonda-Mus Kogoya pair and the Miren Kogoya-Mendi Wonorangga pair.
