G7 Foreign Minister Affirms Support For Ukraine, Condemns Russia's Nuclear Rhetoric District

JAKARTA - Foreign ministers from Group of Seven (G7) countries expressed their support for Ukraine. The G7 Foreign Minister condemned Russia's nuclear rhetoric.

The G7 also warned North Korea's support for Russia marks the expansion of a dangerous conflict, with serious consequences for European and Indo-Pacific security, and calls on China, North Korea's longtime ally, to take action against it.

Russia's use of medium-range ballistic missiles on November 21 is further evidence of their reckless and escalated behavior, the G7 Foreign Minister said in a joint statement at the end of the meeting.

"Our support for the integrity of Ukraine's territory, sovereignty and independence will remain steadfast," they continued.

Russia has carried out massive attacks along the front lines in eastern Ukraine, where Russian troops have made some of the largest territorial gains since 2022.

The G7 ministers alluded to the realization of distributing funds from loan packages worth 50 billion US dollars from frozen Russian assets by the end of this year.

They also pledged to take action against groups that helped Russia avoid sanctions imposed after their invasion of Ukraine nearly three years ago.

Their joint statement was issued at the end of a two-day meeting in Fiuggi, a spa town southeast of Rome, which was attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

The ministers are also trying to increase pressure on Israel to accept a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah in Lebanon, saying it is now time to complete a diplomatic settlement.

The G7 Foreign Minister asked the Israeli government to facilitate humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

"We convey our strongest condemnation of the increasing violence of extremist settlers perpetrated against Palestinians, who undermine security and stability in the West Bank and threaten the prospect of eternal peace," the statement added.
