Russia Continues Drone Attack On Ukrainian Capital Kyiv

JAKARTA - Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Tuesday morning the Ukrainian capital again suffered a Russian drone strike.

"The UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) attack on the capital continues," said Mayor Klitschko on his Telegram message channel.

"Air defense forces operate in various city areas. (Ninarawak planes) enter the capital from various directions," he continued.

Witnesses Reuters heard a series of explosions that sound like an air defense system is operating.

Kyiv, the surrounding region, and most of Ukraine are under airstrike warnings. In Kyiv, the airstrike alarm went off at around 19.00 GMT.

As previously reported, Russia carried out night attacks in remote cities using low-cost'suicide' missiles and drones and low-cost bait drones, which bind to Ukraine's air defenses.

Russian missiles damaged residential buildings in Kharkiv cities in eastern Ukraine and Odesa in the south. Meanwhile, drone attacks caused temporary power outages in the Mykolaiv region and targeted the capital Kyiv.

The residents of the capital can hear the roar of the striker drone engine flying over the city for several hours overnight. Automatic gunshots were occasionally heard as air defenses tried to shoot down Russian drones.

President Volodymyr Zelensky called on Kyiv's Western allies to increase pressure on Russia to prevent the components needed for weapons systems to reach the country.

"Russian attacks on Ukraine's life can be stopped," President Zelensky said.

"With pressure, sanctions, blocking of colonial access to the components they use to make these terror devices, weapons packages to Ukraine, and unwavering determination," he said.
