Bus Enters Jurang In Brazil, 17 People Died

JAKARTA - A total of 17 people were killed and 29 others rescued after the bus fell into a ravine in the state of Alagoas, Brazil.

One person was taken to the Mata Regional Hospital but died, while the other died at the scene.

Details of the accident were not disclosed, but local media reported the bus had fallen over a cliff in the area.

Governor of Alagoas Paulo Dantas has set three days of mourning for the death toll.

"I have ordered full state mobilization, with a team from the fire department and the entire health structure working to help," he said.

On his X account, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said the federal government was monitoring the situation and would support state authorities in the rescue and treatment of the victims.
