JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission III of the DPR Habiburokhman responded to criticism of the results of the plenary meeting for the election and determination of candidates for leadership and candidate for the Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) because it was filled by the majority of law enforcement officers (APH) and the Prosecutor's Office.

Habiburokhman emphasized that the results had gone through a very transparent process. In fact, he has asked for suggestions and input from the public.

Commission III of the DPR has appointed 5 new KPK leaders. They are Setyo Budianto (Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture), Johanis Tanak (Deputy Chairperson of the KPK for the 2019-2024 period), Fitroh Rohcahyanto (ex-Director of Prosecution of the KPK), Agus Joko Pramono (Deputy Chairperson of the BPK for the 2019-2023 period), and Ibnu Basuki Widodo (Hakim of the Manado High Court).

The elected KPK Supervisory Board, namely, Benny Jozua Mamoto (eks Ketua Harian Kompolnas), Chisca Mirawati (Member of the Foreign Bank Association), Wisnu Baroto (Staf Expert Attorney General for General Crimes), Gus Rizal (Chairman of the Banjarmasin High Court), and Sumpeno (Judge of the Jakarta High Court).

"Please pay close attention to the process that took effect yesterday, from the start, last week, right. Remember Friday like this, I'm in the press conference here, yes. We invite the public to submit a proposal, yes because we will hold a fit and proper process in an open and transparent manner. With several things that are evaluations of the previous processes," said Habiburokhman, Friday, November 22.

"Previously it was seen and seemed rushed by one person to only fit and proper for one hour. Yesterday we gave the opportunity an hour and a half, yes. 50 percent longer than the previous one. And all of my friends collaborated if for those 4 days, from morning to night, friends saw it. All members, not only party representatives, the poction representatives asked yes, interviewed, criticized, gave striking questions to the candidates. And in the end, when the election, we did not use the deliberation mechanism, packages, no. We leave it to members per individual to choose each individual. So when selected by each individual, one man one vote, like that, Commission III member, the result is like that," he explained.

If there is an opinion from legal experts and activists regarding the results of the voting in Commission III of the DPR, according to Habiburokhman, his party has provided opportunities for the community, legal experts and activists to convey their aspirations in writing, including to students.

"So we can't accommodate everyone's wishes. The process is late now when we just say, we have chosen it. Yesterday when we opened it, no one asked RDPU to give this (criticism and input), we didn't check at all, nothing. Yes, this is the result," said Habiburokhman.

"So the process has been going on very transparently and we are very accommodating the aspirations of the public. If it's still not satisfied, what about it? That's it, you know. What can I say?," he said.
