JEMBER - A student of the Sociology Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Jember University (Unej), East Java, was found dead after falling from the 8th floor of the Center for Research in Social Sciences and Humanities (C-RiSSH) Building on Monday night.
"The victim is a student of the 2023 Unej FISIP Sociology Study Program with the initials DRY, from Tulungagung Regency, who is currently still in the third semester," said Deputy Chair of the Unej Public Relations Working Team, Iim Fahmi Ilman, as quoted from ANTARA, Tuesday, December 24.
Iim explained that access to the building through the stairs had been closed by officers because the campus was entering its holiday period. However, elevator access is still available until 21.00 WIB for the needs of lecturers, such as research or study.
"It is possible that the victim used the elevator to reach the 8th floor because the stairs had been closed. However, we cannot confirm the cause of the victim falling from the 8th floor of the C-RiSSH Building and are still investigating further," he said.
The campus, he continued, is still coordinating with the police to investigate the cause of the incident. An investigation is being carried out by the Sumbersari Police to uncover this incident.
