JAKARTA - Commission III of the DPR has appointed Setyo Budiyanto to be the Chair of the KPK for the period 2024-2029. The reason for Commission III of the DPR to compactly choose the Inspector General of the Ministry of Agriculture, one of which is because he has experience in the field of detective.

According to Member of Commission III of the DPR from the PKS faction, Nasir Djamil, Setyo Budiyanto has many good experience and track records. As well as having a wide network so that he is considered qualified as chairman of the KPK.

"Yes, the first track record, then maturity, network, experience, is a record for maybe all factions in Commission III of the DPR, so that the choice fell to Setyo Budiyanto, he has experience at the KPK and also the Inspector General at the Ministry of Agriculture," said Nasir, Thursday, November 21.

"Well, because of that, he also has experience in detective, so this experience, the maturity he has, then the network also makes the majority choose him to become chairman of the KPK in the next five years," he continued.

Nasir hopes that Setyo Budiyanto will not repeat the previous mistakes of the KPK leadership, especially regarding ethical violations.

"Yes, hopefully he will not repeat what the previous KPK leadership did, because yesterday there were three KPK leaders who were suspected of violating ethics, one resigned," said Nasir.

Nasir also hopes that in the future the KPK leadership can synergize with the KPK supervisory board. As well as synergizing with other ministries and institutions.

"The collegial collection must be realized, so that nothing is less or higher or lower. So collegial collectives are what we hope can bring synergy leadership, with the KPK supervisory board," said Nasir.

"So there is no mutual reporting between the KPK commissioner and the KPK supervisory board, and vice versa," he concluded.

Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) has determined 5 KPK leaders for the period 2024-2029 in the plenary meeting for the election and determination of the KPK's pmpinan.

The five new KPK leaders are Setyo Budianto with 46 votes, Johanis Tanak 48 votes, Fitroh Rochcahyanto with 48 votes, Agus Joko Pramono 39 votes, and Ibnu Basuki Widodo 33 votes.

Meanwhile, the elected chairman of the KPK for the 2024-2029 period was Setyo Budianto with 45 votes.
