Minister of Religion (Menag) Nasaruddin Umar assessed that the concept of sharia is not only a religious phenomenon but has become an economic phenomenon such as the emergence of halal food and halal lifestyles in various countries in the last 10 years.
This was conveyed by Minister of Religion Nasaruddin at the Sharia International Forum (SHARIF) 2024 organized by the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) at the Mercure Ancol Hotel, North Jakarta (Jakut) from 20-22 November 2024.
"This is a sign that sharia is no longer a religious phenomenon but appears as an economic phenomenon as well," said the Minister of Religion in a written statement, Thursday, November 21.
The Minister of Religion then quoted Pope Benedict as saying, "The only way we can use to save the world economy right now is that we must adopt the concept of the sharia economy."
This for the Minister of Religion is one of the reasons the sharia economy is believed to be able to provide solutions to the crisis experienced by the world because of the implementation of the concept in it which is fair.
In his speech, the Minister of Religion also encouraged the need for new literature in Islamic law to remain relevant for participation in the development of today's modern economy.
"Let's make contemporary muamalah fiqh, which can be compatible with the development of our times," he appealed.
