Ministry Of Public Works And Housing Prepares Home Relocation Of Landslides Victim In East Nusa Tenggara

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) is moving quickly to prepare the relocation of homes for residents affected by landslides in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

As reported by Antara, Monday, April 12, the Head of the Disaster Management Task Force of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Widiarto said the Ministry of Public Works and Housing has sent teams to Adonara and Lembata to coordinate with local governments and local community leaders.

"Relocation needs to be done because the location of the settlements affected by the disaster is currently in the path of river debris that is already filled with rocks, so the risk is very high if they return to live there," said Widiarto.

Based on temporary information, for Adonara, there are already two alternative locations prepared, while in Lembata also ready local government land, but the location will be communicated with the local community.

"We will continue to communicate with the local community, because moving the residence must also handle social problems, not just technical problems, where one of the conditions of the location must be safe from disaster risk," said Widiarto.

According to Widiarto, 1,000 units of Risha (Healthy Simple Instant House) will be built, which is in Lembata as many as 700 units, and Adonara as many as 300 units. But the exact development of the numbers will continue to grow after a detailed survey with the local government and the local community.

He estimated that if the land was ready, the physical construction would be able to be completed within 4 months because the construction was not so difficult with Risha's existing knock-down method.

In addition to preparing measures to accelerate the relocation of affected settlements, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing continues to assist in the emergency handling of flash flood disasters in Adonara and Lembata in East Nusa Tenggara Province.

Currently in the 2 affected areas have been operated as many as 23 excavator units, 24 dump truck units, 3 loader units, 1 grader unit, and 5,000 liters of fuel.
