JAKARTA - KPK Leadership Candidate Johanis Tanak wants the KPK's hand arrest operation (OTT) to be abolished because it is not in accordance with the provisions in the Criminal Procedure Code.

According to him, OTT is not appropriate because the word operation is something that has been prepared and planned.

Meanwhile, the meaning of arrests based on the Criminal Procedure Code, Johanis, a legal action incident, was immediately named a suspect.

"If there is a plan, the operation is planned, the incident that happened one time was caught, this is an inappropriate overlap," said Johanis during the fit and proper test of the KPK Capim which was held by Commission III of the DPR as reported by ANTARA, Selas, November 19.

As Deputy Chairperson of the KPK for this period, he also admitted that he had expressed his disapproval of OTT activities.

However, he said, the majority in the KPK said that OTT is a tradition.

"But if I could be (KPK Leadership), ask permission, be chairman, I would close, close, because it is not in accordance with the understanding referred to in the Criminal Procedure Code," said the man with the prosecutor's background.

When delivering his plan to eliminate OTT, Johanis was immediately greeted with applause by people in the meeting room of Commission III of the DPR RI.

According to him, the KPK should carry out provisions that comply with the law, not based solely on logic.

Six KPK Capims who underwent fit and proper tests namely Ida Budhiati (former DKPP member), Ibnu Basuki Widodo (hakim), Johanis Tanak (Vice Chairman of the KPK), Djoko Poerwanto (high-ranking Polri officer), Ahmad Alamsyah Saragih (former Ombudsman Member), and Agus Joko Pramono (former Deputy Chairman of BPK).
